Thapasya Kala Sahitya Vedi is a leading art and literary forum in Kerala. For the past 44 years, Thapasya has been a dynamic presence in the state's arts and literature scene. Founded in 1976 and headquartered in Kozhikode, It has nationwide units and hundreds of dedicated cultural activists.
Thapasya has carved a unique space in the hearts of Keralites by emphasizing the roots of the great Indian heritage and culture. Our contributions to the state's cultural history and people are significant and far-reaching.
In 1991, we organized a Cultural Pilgrimage from Kanyakumari to Gokarnam, the Jyotirgamamaya Pilgrimage from Ananthapuram to Anantapuri, and Sahayasanu Yatra and the Sagarathirayatra. These initiatives uphold our cultural unity and social struggle, making Thapasya a rare cultural initiative.
We are particularly proud of our efforts to promote rural, ritual, and scientific arts. We also encourage the adaptation of modern trends in arts and literature.
Thapasya is more than just an organization; it is a Guru who teaches the importance of nationalism, culture, and literature. We believe that India's soul lies in its arts and literature, and our mission is to nurture this soul and pass it on to future generations.
We emerged when creative activities were wholly denied, and there was no favorable environment. Thapasya was established to restore the freedom denied to artists and writers during the emergency period announced. After overcoming many challenges, Thapasya has thrived for four and a half decades. During this period, we have been able to shed light on the dark lives of others.
Thapasya continues to work firmly based on the tradition of India. We aim to teach art and culture to the present generation and pass it on to future generations. Our goal is not only social transformation but also creating new attitudes through cultural upliftment and building an upbeat personality among people.
This organization is believed to maintain the authenticity of Kerala culture and clarify the depth of Indian culture through this movement led by eminent literary figures like Mahakavi Akittham.
