Thuravoor Viswambharan, born on September 4, 1943, emerged as a distinguished orator, teacher, and esteemed editor of Janmabhoomi. His captivating lectures on the Mahabharata, spanning an impressive 5000 episodes on Amrita TV, endeared him to the people's hearts, showcasing his profound oratory skills. Notably, he authored the acclaimed book 'Mahabharata Darshanam Oru Punarvayana' and penned insightful essays on the visions of Swami Ranganathananda, Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, and Swami Vivekananda. A stalwart in his service to society, Thuravoor Viswambharan served as the State President of Thapasya for four years. He continued to hold the post of State Patron until his demise.
His remarkable contributions were acknowledged with several prestigious awards, including the 'Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award', 'Thapasya-Sanjayan Puraskaram', 'Ramayanashree Puraskaram', 'Manorama Thampuratti Puraskaram', 'Amrita Keerthi Puraskaram', 'Dr C P Menon Award' and 'Kerala Samajam Award'. Thuravoor Viswambharan's legacy lives on, even after his passing on October 20, 2017, as a testament to his enduring impact on literature, society, and the cultural fabric of Kerala.
