V. M. Korath, a distinguished figure, was a prolific author, renowned freedom fighter, dedicated Gandhian, and the Deputy Director of Mathrubhumi. Within the media realm, he adopted the pen name 'Lakshmanan.' Born on September 15, 1920, he served as the State President of Thapasya from 1977 to 1982. His unwavering commitment to Thapasya persisted until his demise, when he assumed the role of Patronus, earning widespread recognition in both the media and broader society.
Korath's contributions to Mathrubhumi and Thapasya's Varthika sections were particularly noteworthy, and his writings gained immense popularity. Notably, he translated Ved Mehta's work into Malayalam, titled "Mukhathodu Mukham." His autobiography, "Ormmayude Nilaavu," provides insights into his remarkable life.
Acknowledged for his outstanding contributions, V. M. Korath received several prestigious awards, including the inaugural M.V. Paili Award from the Kerala Press Academy, the Farm Journalism Award, and the Kesari Award. Regrettably, he passed away on June 4, 2000, leaving behind a literary and journalistic excellence legacy.
