Prof Melet Chandrasekaran, born in 1945, was a renowned poet, critic, and a significant figure in literary circles, serving as the State President of Thapasya for four years from 2008 to 2012. His scholarly pursuits, focused primarily on poetry and criticism, showcased his multifaceted talents. Even as a teacher at Payyannur College, Chandrasekaran remained actively engaged in the field of literature throughout his professional career.

Among his notable poetry collections are 'Surya Janyam,' 'Sreechakra Geeta,' 'Apoornnam,' 'Madhyahna Swapnangal,' 'Atma Puranam,' 'Diary Kurippukal' and 'Amritosmi.' His critical works, including 'Aksharathinte Athmavu,' 'Kalathinte Sakshi,' 'Kavyakalayum Kalathalavum,' 'Kakkadinte Kavithakal,' 'Kunjiraman Nair Kavitha' and 'Vailopilly Kavitha' further demonstrated his analytical prowess.

Prof Melet Chandrasekaran received several accolades for his literary contributions, including the 'Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award,' 'Kuttipuzha Endowment,' 'Mahakavi Kuttamath Award,' 'Moodadi Damodaran Award,' and the 'Mayilpeeli' Award.
